This is a book meant for beginners in philosophy. It does not really delve into philosophical issues as it prepares a student to do philosophy and to think in a philosophical way. Woodhouse points out how to analyze arguments, read philosophy articles, and to write effectively. This book is clearly written and sharply reasoned.
