I did not enjoy the disjointed narration style between stories. Different narrators would finish each other's sentences; making it difficult to stay in a coherent thought process. The words of "wisdom" were just assertions without substance or merit. Nothing that was said in this book was evidence-based and blind belief and faith were celebrated as the highest values.

Each story that was recounted just made me feel pity for the people telling them. They went through tough times and turned to inebriation for solace. I'm sure it's an all too common tale but they made no strides in convincing me that the 12-steps approach is actually the best method. Every time someone said they had a disease, I cringed. This was hard to get through and gets a solid one-star from me.… (más)
