This is creepy, funny and intriguingly weird, just like the book. You aren't meant to like the good guys. You end up liking the bastard.

I love this series, it's a few years after previous events and Reid has to deal with tragedy, injury and complicated politics, while Drake has come to terms with his past and has potential for his future, having spent some time in Manchester.

The women are so pivotal in the stories, and the lives are so messy but believable. I'm looking forward to season 4.

I found this entertaining on several levels, apart from looking for locations in Dublin and spotting the Irish extras this feels true-to-life for Victorian London, in a none-too-salubrious area of London, Inspector Reid and his deputy Detective Bennet Drake and Captain Homer Jackson his CSI team. He has to fight both outside troubles and corruption in other areas.

Sucked me in and kept me watching, I love this series.

Gritty. I found it compelling watching with people with very different purposes coming together to investigate murder, messy and complicated with very complicated politics.
