Joséphine verlangen, ambitie, Napoleon por Kate Williams

De geschiedenis geschreven rond Josephine de Beauharnais, echtgenote van Napoleon, werpt een heel ander licht op de oorlogszuchtige keizer. Ambition and Desire: The Dangerous Life of Josephine… por Kate Williams

This is a very readable biography, well structured and researched, on the life of Josephine Bonaparte. At times it became difficult to put down, leading me on in the progress of the characters. Definitely worth the time invested to learn more about not only her but life in the first quarter of the 19th century France and Europe. A real life “rags-to-riches” story.

The Pleasures of Men por Kate Williams

Kind of a cross between Jack the Ripper and Sherlock?? Not really sure. There were so many characters and I was never quite sure which narrator was "speaking". Rathe disjointed story-telling. Could have been much better if the author stayed in one voice.
