Really was looking forward to this, but ultimately it wasn't my cup of tea. Interesting premise...love the 90s TV show reunion setup. Not at all scary and kinda one-dimensional characters. Finished it, but only because I hoped it would go somewhere interesting. It never did. Now debating whether I want to read Hide. Who doesn't like an abandoned amusement park as a setting? But fool me twice and all that.

Thoroughly enjoyed this whole trilogy. Glad that the ending wrapped everything up without feeling rushed or drawn out.

And I’m obsessed with Radu’s story arch from beginning to end.

Possible Triggers: Extreme gore
This is a dark horror story that’s filled to overflowing with blood, gore.... with a secret society of high society elites who are murdering the young, and the poor in order to secure the success of their own families. I had to wonder when they would turn on those like themselves when they became too much competition. Fodder for another book maybe. I do not misspeak when I say that it is grisly. The plot is well thought out and cleverly presented with a diverse cast of characters that are almost entirely TOO memorable. The central character and the heroine of this dark tale is very often totally unlikeable, and we learn that she is fighting a very dark past. The storyline is frighteningly simple...the game is composed of fourteen contestants who are dropped off in an abandoned amusement park for a game of extreme...and I do mean extreme... hide-and-seek. The winner is promised not only glorious fame but also a fifty-thousand-dollar cash prize. Believe me... we quickly find out what folks will do for that kind of money. The competitors range from an internet influencer who is looking for viral content for his program, to a couple of techies hoping for a chance to spend earn time with the executives of the extreme sports company that is sponsoring this "event". There is even a young woman trying to rebuild her life after an abusive relationship... and last but not least...a rural gas station attendant who just wants to make some "real-life" friends. Who in the world would want these people as friends??? Why doesn't he just go to a club or to church, or just go to the library??? Oh yeah now I remember...fifty thousand big green ones!! So, our little murdering groupies are composed from all walks and stations of life...all with one common goal in mind...kill before you're killed, then take the money and run quickly to the bank. I will have to say that it was less bleak than I expected after the first couple of chapters, but OMG...the amount of blood gore and body parts that was crammed into these pages! You probably will need to be HUGE fan of horror, or you'll spend a few weeks or months locked away in your house hiding under your covers with ever light in the house on, after finally closing the book. Of course, you'll have to eventually go out for food...but watch your back and stay away from the amusement park!!½

Doesn’t suffer from typical ‘middle child’ syndrome of trilogies where the 2nd book deviates too drastically in tone or pace. This was a cohesive extension of Book 1 and I’m even more excited for Book 3 now.

Surprising novel that reads like an epic fantasy but for beginners if that makes sense. Some of the secondary characters were hard to keep track of but overall it’s a very good story. Excited for Book 2.

I didn't like it very much, I found it quite boring and I kept reading just to find out how it was going to end. I'm disappointed. Three and a half stars.

Closer to a 4.5 because of a very rushed ending, but nevertheless I truly enjoyed reading this. "The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein" is visceral and doesn't shy away from the ugly parts of human nature and madness. This story does a marvelous job of bringing the OG Frankenstein story back to life (lol) but in a fresh way- I think Mary Shelley herself would love this book!

Easy five stars. I loved this the whole way through, and better yet is that it made me want to pick up a classic tale I've never read and learn it anew! And EVEN BETTER, is that once I finished this one, that classic tale was already in the book right after ready for me to read!!

Darkness, cleverness, twists and growth and I LOVED IT.

Recommended: YES YES YES!!!
For fans of shamelessly dark plots and characters, for those who can appreciate difficult moments (think Game of Thrones), for a fascinating new perspective on the story of Frankenstein and his monster

Thoughts:
Well clearly I loved it. This was a fantastic spontaneous October find, as it fit the "spooky" theme for the month perfectly. I've been really enjoying tales with darker tones lately (like [b:Foul Is Fair|42595554|Foul Is Fair|Hannah Capin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1558541437l/42595554._SY75_.jpg|66290359]), and this really hit the spot perfectly. The mysteries within the book twist and churn like a living things, reflecting the shadows that plague Elizabeth and Victor along the way.

Don't come into this looking for a romance, because you won't find one. That's not to say there isn't love, as we see that in a few other forms, but in a non-sexual way. Honestly, if you know anything about the original story of Frankenstein, you probably shouldn't be coming into this expecting romance anyway!

Ending: deeply satisfying. 100% support. And that's all I'll say about that. ☺

Really interesting premise, ultimately gets a little muddy and, not sure confusing is the right word but it doesn't have as satisfying a resolution as I'd hoped.

*I got this book for review for my honest thoughts*

I really thought his book was so fun. I really wish I had re-read book one before the reading book 2. But I really loved being back in the Slayer world. I really loved the new characters overall. I also loved the main plot and mystery at the heart of this novel. I also loved the various camoes we got from buffy verse characters including one of my all time favorite characters. I really loved how Kirsten tackled this world and this character and would def check out future books if we ever get them!!

I found this book to be such a refreshing take on the cam lot myths. I really found the pacing and storytelling elements to be super strong. I really was so engaged in the story. I also loved the main characters and the side characters that populated this world. I really also like how kiersten took the myths and turned it on its head. This book was such a unexpected suprise. I really also loved the other POV that was included throughout this read. I also enjoyed the ending and really was impressed with it. I feel like that this book just scratched the surface and and super excited to see where this series goes in the future.
