Having just begun this book, I'm seriously annoyed by two things: One, the circle-R trademark symbol by the word "realtor". Come on. I'm sure that some real estate company has trademarked some phrase with "realtor" in it, but please don't try to appropriate a word out of the English language in this way. You can see it in the title and subtitle, which is stupid enough, but to see it throughout the text is just taking it to absurd levels. Literally. Every. Single. Instance. Of. The. Word. Realtor. -- has the registered-trademark symbol. In a book about real estate! Unbelievable.
Two, I'm also annoyed by the pull-quotes that are basically just testimonials to the authors (who are of course real estate agents themselves). "John was so awesome, blah blah blah." It's completely unprofessional, and off-putting, to have these advertisements in a book that purports to be neutral advice for all home-buyers. It really makes me question how much I can rely on the text.
We'll see how I feel about it as I get further along.… (más)
