I wish that we could give partial stars since the book was more 3.5 than 3. However, it was an interesting book about various poisoners through history. I believe the author was trying to find poisoners throughout a century but I only saw one that happened in 1972 the rest took place during the end of the 1800's and the first three decades of the 1900's. Each case was written about as if it were a short story giving you the background on the poisoner, who they murdered and why. As well as what happened during the court case, a few of them were released.I gave it a higher rating because I had only heard of 3 of the poisoners before, Mary Cotton, Dr. Crippen and Francis Maybrick. I believe that in the case of the Dr. Crippen story the author was working on basic information from the era since due to some testing of DNA there is a possibility that Crippen was innocent. If you're into reading about strange things like serial killers like I am, then you'll enjoy this book. There is definitely a lot of repetition in the way the killings were committed, but I suppose when the book is called A Gallery of Poisoners it is to be expected that there is a lot of poisoning going on. The poison of choice definitely appears to be arsenic. Overall, pretty interesting reading and I loved that the author seems to have a bit of a sense of humor which makes it fun to read.

This book shows that anyone is capable of murder, even so called caring, or trusted people.
A fascinating chronicle of real life killers and their shocking crimes.
Highly recommended.
I was given a digital copy of this book by the publisher Endeavour via Netgalley in return for an honest unbiased review.
