Ray Grant Toepfer

Interesting as being set near Waynesboro, VA where my uncle lived, though the actual villahes involved are fictional. Takes the 16 year old hero through from joining local militia in Feb.1863 to just after the war, with service in the CSA artillery and a local guerilla unit on the way. Despite the hero's youth it is not a "Young Adult" story. Has pre-civil-rights era attitudes on slavery, though not harshly so.
