David Thompson is a general building contractor who has lived in the Yukon Territory since 1962. His love for the land and its people has inspired him to write short stories describing life in the Yukon. He has twice won Dawson City's Authors on Eighth writing contest for short fiction and has had mostrar más stories published in local newspapers. This is a book of linked short stories, featuring the citizens of Dawson City, Yukon. Through this series of vignettes, we learn the life of sourdoughs, gold miners, transplanted hippies, gypsies and others who have made their way to Canada's north. The stories are entertaining, presenting the quirkiness of northern life.

Linked stories, in general, lack the depth of a novel, in my opinion. This collection is no exception. But the writing is good and there is enough to let the reader begin to feel connected to the characters. From wooly mammoths to heading south for school, this collection tells about life in a distant place.… (más)
