- Phra Nicholas Thanissaro es un monje budista de 24 años. Con treinta y cinco años de experiencia en meditación, es un profesor calificado de meditación de la Asociación Médica Complementaria del Reino Unido. Afiliado a la Fundación Dhammakaya, también está calificado como maestro de escuela y practicante de MBTI. Como erudito-practicante, durante su tiempo como miembro de facultad en la Universidad de Warwick, publicó ampliamente en revistas revisadas por pares sobre la formación de la identidad budista en adolescentes y continúa investigando el atractivo de la meditación en Occidente. I studied a bit of Buddhism while taking several religion classes in college, but this book was way more in-depth. I didn’t realize that there were two main different types of Buddhists: convert and heritage Buddhists. After learning what that means, it does make more sense to me: some people are simply born into the religion while others convert. While reading this book, it hit home just how different the two can be. I also didn’t realize that so many people who were born into Buddhism ended up leaving the religion. I enjoyed reading about the psychology of the religion as a whole.… (más)
