The author, Mary Terhune, sent her book to Wayne Dyer, who loved it, and therefore recommended it to all his readers, and that was how I became aware of it.

The book recounts some of Mary´s life story, but, first and foremost, her amazing spiritual experiences.

In 1984 she was at her lowest point, having lost all her money, when Jesus appeared to her. A great wave of golden yellow light poured in through the windows of her living room; Mary thought about Jesus, and heard his voice speak to her. He gave her seven revelations.

The first was on Forgiveness, which was really Self-forgiveness, which was the crux of Jesus´ teaching.

The second revelation was on Judgment – “Judge not, lest ye be judged.” She understood this to literally mean that to judge another was to judge oneself right then and there. If she judged someone, it would instantly come back to her like a boomerang.

The third revelation was on the Bible. Jesus told her that “they” misused his words in the Bible. He had not been understood and was therefore not quoted correctly. She felt his compassionate love.

The fourth revelation was on Weight and Emotions, He asked her if she understood what weight problems were all about and at the same time infused her being with knowledge regarding “emotions and extra pounds”.

The fifth revelation was on Disease. Jesus gave Mary an understanding that all disease in our bodies first begins on an energetic level as thoughts and feelings.

The sixth revelation was on Aging, Mary was given the experience and understand of aging, how “thoughts of anger, doubts, fears, and anxieties” affected one´s physical body through the mind/body connection.

And the seventh and final revelation was on the Ego. She understood the ego to be “an energetic mental construct” we use to create an individual entity and story separate from God, which is “our true and natural state of conscious awareness and being”.

As she lay on her couch, she felt light and love pouring in, around, and out of her. She felt truly peaceful.

Following her meeting with Jesus Mary felt transformed: everywhere she looked was filled with sparkling white light particles, and each blade of grass shimmered. For the first time she saw the beauty of the world.

She felt more love and more aware of what was going on around her,

She has strange experiences with sparrows, which seem to seek her out.

On a subsequent occasion, when consulting a healer, she feels a divine presence and a flood of light pours through the top of her head into her entire body. She understands that Jesus healed using this light.

Mary meets her spiritual teacher, whom she calls a “monk”, though it is a woman. (??)

Later, she again experiences the Golden light, which she calls “God, Brahman, the Ultimate Reality, the source of all that exists”. God/Brahman tells her:

“Here is your divinity,
The divinity that awaits all mankind.
Your soul wants full expression now.
This is the presence.
This is the living presence.
This is living. This is real.”

This inspiring book contains much more than what I have indicated here, but this should give you an idea of its content.

You will understand why Wayne Dyer was so enamoured of Mary and her book.

I highly recommend that all those interested in spiritual experiences read this book.

Mary Terhune has graciously allowed the public to learn about her own spiritual awakening. Mind you, it is much more than a spiritual awakening. Usually books of this type begin with a near death experience but this one is refreshingly different. To be honest, I almost put my book down because of her first vision of Jesus but I read on and am so glad that I did continue. One thing I did gather from this book is that everyone's spiritual journey/awakening will be deeply personal to them but the end result will be the same. Everyone's path to enlightenment is different. It cannot have been easy for Mary Terhune to write this book as it details some things that other people may never be able to talk about but she seems to have gained such a peace of mind and spirit that it was important for her to share her experiences. I was particularly intrigued by her journey in preventive and curative medicine. There is so much division and sadness not only in the world today but also on a personal level. I think books of this type may appeal to some people but not others. It will depend on if they are ready to consider the possibility Ms Terhune tries to share. If it can help even one person who is in personal turmoil to understand what she is saying then it will be a wonderful thing. I am hoping that she has plans for future books to expand on some topics she discussed in this one. I want to thank Hay House for allowing me to read this wonderful book (via Netgalley) for free in exchange for an honest review.… (más)
