I need to read chaper 11 which covers the following: `my home is bombed at Portsmouth; my wife goes to Havant". The author spent time at Thorney Island. I did too.I once went there with the Combined Cadet Force from school. We were expecting a flight in an aeroplane. A man in a uniform and with a twirly mosutache appeared and said "I am dreadfully sorry, boys, the plane is broken". We all went home.
