- Henry Tantaleán was born in Lima, Peru, and studied archaeology at San Marcos University, Peru. He got his Master's and PhD in Prehistoric Archaeology at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Spain. He has taught archaeology at universities in America and Europe and has published many scientific papers and books. Currently, he is Staff Researcher at the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA and Associate Researcher at the French Institute of Andean Studies in Lima.
He runs a number of archaeological projects in Peru, including the Chicha Archaeological Project on Peru's southern coast. He is co-editor of the Ñawpa Pacha journal of archaeology of the Institute of Andean Studies. [from Archaeology: The Essential Guide to Our Human Past, Smithsonian, 2017]
