Liked it only slightly better than Kingdom Hearts, somehow these cross-overs don't work for me (which is weird, because usually I love cross-overs, and I love Disney...)

A whole new world of adventure and romance!

This book is basically my childhood dream in print form. Getting to go on an adventure filled with all of my favorite Disney characters not to mention getting the chance to become a real princess myself. This book will definitely appeal to the younger audience and to those of us who are still children at heart.

There was tons of whimsy and a bit of mystery, but what I loved the most was the spunky heroine and her banter with the kind and yet annoyingly charming Rei. These two really made the entire story.

Kilala is sweet, fun loving, quirky, a bit stubborn, but most of all loyal to the end. She would do anything for her friends and always tries to do the right thing even when it isn't always the easiest way. She is a great character who would make a great friend.

Rei is a bit of a smart aleck, but he knows when to admit he is wrong and sticks up for his friends.

This is an exciting adventure that I recommend to anyone who enjoys fairytales and/or Disney.

When I first picked this up I absolutely loved the idea of a manga with Disney princesses in it. Unfortunately, the series fell a little flat for me. Kilala was at best annoying and over the top girly. A little is ok but she is all hearts and butterflies up in her own little world. As much as I fell in love with Disney and wanted to love this series I was struggling to just get through it. The drawing however was fabulous with well-defined character emotions. The Disney princesses and other characters were amazing too.

Summary:
The graphic novel is about a young girl named Kilala. Her parents are in other part of the world because her mother is sick. She loves anything to do about princess. She is able to go to another land where there are prince charming’s and princesses. In this other world she is part of the story of the Little Mermaid. This story keeps to the basic guidelines of the Disney Princess stories but with more magic and imagination.
Personal Reaction:
I found this story to be almost like the Disney version with a different twist. My daughter who is eight also read this story and she wants other volumes.

Extension Ideas:
1. I would use this book for the girls who would like to read comics but can only find them in boy categories.
2. I would offer this book for the girls who love Disney princess but need a book of a higher reading level.
