Excellent overview of important concepts and events surrounding the Holocaust, directed at a teen educational level but thorough enough for anyone. Includes many well marked passages from primary source material, photographs, and images of documents. My only complaint is the index, because it is only a couple of pages long and not comprehensive.

By following the effects of the Holocaust through the experience of four individuals, the author gives face to millions of victims. The book traces the history of anti-Semitism, describes the experience of he Gypsies before and during the Holocaust and of other people deemed by the Nazis to be unworthy of life. The book pursues the themes of collaboration, indifference, obedience, dehumanization, resistance and rescue, and is lavishly illustrated with black and white photos.

Full of illustrations and photographs and serves not only as a useful source for any examination of the Holocaust, but also includes an examination of the persecution of gay people, Armenians and Gypsies.… (más)
