We meet Dina Martensen again, one of the characters in "Das Geheimnis des Strandvogts", who is looking for a milkmaid gone missing on the mainland on behalf of the girl's parents. Another girl is found dead, and Dina gets involves in the investigation carried out by the local lieutenant of gendarmerie.
This is a mystery, but it is also very much a social history of the small region of Eiderstedt, where the farms are large and the farmers grow rich and fat raising cattle, both for milk and butter and for export to England as beef, exploiting the workers and making free of the women. Well written and the reader can easily follow the leads that bring matters to a conclusion.… (más)
