Biografía breve
Marjorie Strachey was one of the 10 children of Lt.-Gen. Sir Richard Strachey, an officer in the British colonial armies and his wife Lady Jane Grant, a leader in the women's suffrage movement. The writer and literary critic Lytton Strachey and translator James Strachey were among her brothers. Dorothy Strachey Bussy was one of her sisters. Marjorie was educated at Allenswood with her sisters before attending Somerville College at Oxford University. She published a collection of short stories called Savitri and Other Women in 1920, and then three novels, including The Counterfeits (1927), about a woman adapting to peacetime life after nursing in World War I. Her biographies included The Nightingale (1925), about the life of Chopin, and Mazzini, Garibaldi, and Cavour (1938).
