in this lovely novella, Liu Yang wanders through his home at Wyrld's End unencumbered by much, meeting with everyday life and with adventures he filters through poetry like a Holy Fool or a Tang Dynasty poet. he misses his daughter, who has gone to the Moon, and also the contents of his pocket, which has a hole in it. Wyrld's End is a place that remembers Earth a little, like when you make sketty, if your ancestors came from there, which isn't true of all you meet. is Liu Yang the Last Poet, or is that his tentacled friend Eo, who is probably (also?) the First Poet. there is technology and not-technology, there are Conspiracies, with Danger, but Liu Yang just keeps moving and thinks about Language, the poems he knows and is writing in his head, and the fact that he only knows what three of the 24 symbols in his missing Marble can do. which is a lot. the poet's thinking is sound, and i can hardly wait for more stories set in the world of Wyrld's End.… (más)
