I was given an audiobook version of this title by the author for an honest review. Let me just start out by saying I typically read and review young adult novels or fantasy novels. While I have reviewed romance and I have review suspense, they are generally linked to the young adult genre in some way (unless we are talking about a fantasy novel). So this was NOT what I was expecting.

My second comment is this is NOT a stand alone installment. The story clearly had much going on (in previous books?) but I haven’t read any of those books. So it sounded like the prequels had much action, adventure, tragedy, and suspense but this book did not. The entire book just went through the emotional aftermath these characters are experiencing after a murder/rape/beating of (several?) characters.

As this is an incredibly short novella, I was confused as to why the author did not merge it with the previous books.

My final point is that I had the audiobook version. I don’t often read romance or erotica and I’ve NEVER read it via audiobook. While the actors were very dramatic in their read performance of this book, I really didn’t want to listen to the sighs, groans, and growls while driving to and from work.

I’ve seen that other reviewers loved this book. So if you are romantic suspense fan, you may wish to check out the series. I’m assuming starting from book 1 would be the best bet.

My original The Bleeding audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.

The Bleeding pulls you right into the terrific history of the Warren family with a prolog going back to 1978.

To stop any potential listeners from feeling totally confused, I would suggest reading August to Life, a 76-page story, prior to listening to the Bleeding. The Bleeding is the continuation of the family saga involving the Warrens, Johnsons, and Bennetts. The short prequel introduces the numerous family members and provides the details of what happened between these families.

The Bleeding then continues 10 years after the tragic events that left some family members in prison and most of them deeply scarred. It's a story about the vicious cycle of violence and abuse, about mental health and resilience. It's a gripping psychological thriller that is pretty intense, but also has some very uplifting moments.

I think this story had huge potential, but I would have really liked it as one complete story rather than the two separate and very short installments. It is difficult to get a real sense of any of the characters because you swiftly go through different points of views amid a plethora of fast-paced action. There is also no real conclusion and I was left with plenty of questions at the end of The Bleeding. There is another short installment, called One Minute There, which I guess would answer some of my queries, but only The Bleeding is available on audio (so far).

This was my third experience of listening to Noah Michael Levine. The other times he was narrating in tandem with a female narrator, this was the first time I heard him as a single narrator portraying females and children. I'm pleased to say he was outstanding with those voices as well. I knew he is a very convincing narrator in the romance genre, but he also had no problems bringing the suspense, danger and high emotions of this thriller to life either. I love his narration. The production quality was ok.

Recommended as a short but entertaining crime story full of family drama.

Audiobook was provided for review by the publisher.

This book is about a young woman. She does some strange things that makes her to do things that are not right. Her stepfather or father goes to look for his missing daughter. Detective Bennett will not give up on his daughter Melissa.

Melissa wants to protect her daughter Abby. Though for some reason Melissa has gone missing and after hearing her name called and knocking at the door. Her family is weary of what has happened to her sister in law and brother. Though she calls a friend and tell him nothing and ask for help.

Melissa thinks she is safe after running. Something is wrong and no one can find her. She claim someone is after her and has to flee once again. What happens next is just another page turner. I would advise who reads this. This is best for those that need to be mature enough to read for it got some violence and some nastier words like the word (B**ch).
