Roslyn and Miles were childhood friends and have remained friends. Roslyn becomes engaged to another and decides that she should find a bride for Miles. She has a house party and invites some girlfriends from school, whom she hasn't seen in a while. The hero, her fiance and brother are invited, along with a couple of men to round out the numbers. Roslyn sees that her friends are not as she remembers, or that she has changed, because they, all but one, annoy her. The last friend to arrive, has temporarily escaped from a betrothal to a cruel fiance. One bluestocking friend brought some unruly cats that she is working with, and they are frequently getting loose and causing trouble. There is a problem with some missing jewelry. One young lady is constantly trying to run the household and is hanging around her father. Then she finds out that her dearest friend Miles(H) has been secretly engaged to a wealthy young lady for years, because his father bankrupted the estate with his gambling. A series of events occur, Roslyn releases her fiance, so he can marry her friend and Miles realizes he can't live without Roslyn and proposes. Everything works out neatly. There is no epilogue. 3.5/5 stars… (más)
