I enjoyed this book because I don’t often read stories about couples already in love and married. It was a refreshing change of pace. I became teary-eyed quite a bit, especially in the beginning of the story, and I wanted to shake some sense into both Ben and Rebecca for acting so foolish and scared—they just needed to talk! When they finally did, however, I felt so happy for them and I kept thinking it was about damn time.
Although I enjoyed the book, I sometimes felt confused because of all the head-hopping. From Ben’s POV, to Rebecca’s and then back to Ben’s, unnecessary POV shifts occurred in the same scene/chapter without proper scene breaks. At one point of the story, we jump into Jessica’s head (Rebecca’s sister). I may have read an ARC—which would account for why the editor didn’t fix the head-hopping—but I’m not sure.
Despite this issue, I really did enjoy the book. It was a beautiful love story of a couple in a rut who found their way back to one another in the most unexpected of places.
4 Stars.
