Since the 1970s, the Editors of Balaji have taken upon themselves the huge task of publishing several language books learned through other languages. They are wonderful self-study tools that get one started on the basics of a new language. Here is an easy to learn Sanskrit through English book written by a multilingual scholar.

The book is for those who do not know the Sanskrit alphabet. It is divided into four Parts: Part 1- How to write the Devanagari characters/letters shown with diagrams, Part 2- nouns and Pronouns in their various forms, Part3-Roots, Verbs, and derivatives such as Indeclinables, Voices, and Propositions, and Part 4- Exercises including stories, essays, conversations, and translations. There is a glossary at the end of the book for translations and references. Those already familiar with the Sanskrit script can save time by skipping Part 1 and directly going to the lessons.

Language learning takes time, effort, and enthusiasm. Any motivated student who will commit the time will find this book very beneficial as the first step to Sanskrit.
