I found this book very interesting. Being an Arizona Native, I respect the Navajo Nation and their culture. We'd always see Navajos at the concerts we went to, but I never realized how important music was to their culture. I enjoyed reading about their passion for heavy metal music and daily life on the reservation.
A slender book focusing mostly on the popularity of metal on the Navajo, Hopi and Zuni reservations, and on the rise of Native metal bands. Musicians and club owners are featured, along with photos of performances.
I didn't really like the format of the book, which was primarily transcripts of musicians from different bands speaking without the context of a conversation, so I sometimes felt like it was the middle of the conversation, and it would have benefited from editing out filler words and phrases.… (más)
