Lil leaves her family in Denver to move to Chesterfield, Colorado, to open her own law practice. She's one of a handful of lady lawyers in the country. Before she has even opened for business she has her first two customers, one a local rancher accused of cattle rustling. She figures out a way to save him and ends up falling in love with Drew.

I loved this story. The characters are well defined. Lil is outspoken and feisty. Drew is a product of his times but he begins to see where he may be wrong. Around them they build a family but not a traditional one. The villains are hiss worthy. Her parents are a piece of work. I loved when she stood up to them. There is a subtle humor running below the surface. I felt happy while reading this. The only thing missing was a clear resolution on the rustling charge but it doesn't change the story or my feelings towards the tale.… (más)

Great plot! Strong characters!

I thought some of the medical facts were too explicit for my liking. (I personally don't like watching people give me shots or IVs, so naturally, anything this explicit is going to make me want to turn my face away from it all). Now...the part towards the end where little Robin is "helping"---she's way too young! The beginning of the book she's about two years old, right? Her speech is consistent with that of a two-year-old or younger. And now at the end of the book, she's playing nurse or doctor's assistant to Ben? Um...not a fan of that idea. Moving on.....

I love the sheriff. He's great. Definitely sounds like the kind of guy I'd like to have around if I was in need of assistance.

Wisteria is a terrific woman and a loving, caring, doting aunt, but I wish she had a better name. I don't grimace at the sound of her sister's name, Rose Bush or Petunia Bush, but Wisteria? *grimace* Moving on!

The book is well-written. It's strong. I just think with some minor changes, it'd be better.

I was so excited to see that this book would be on a virtual book tour. I purchased this book shortly after it came out but had not read it yet. Lil and Drew were patiently waiting in my TBR pile. When I saw the tour I stated I would review taking one book off my every growing TBR list.

Lil was far to advanced in her thinking for the time she was in. Sadly men and parents did not believe a female was capable of having any thoughts other than what to wear for the day or how to prepare a meal. Sadly there are still parents and men that still believe that today.

Lil was only interested getting her law practice up and running with clients. No she was not concerned with marriage, babies or even cleaning house. Law books were here passion, her lover something that could may her happy they gave her comfortable and did not judge her.

When Lil is scorned by other for being a lawyer she keeps pushing forward. She refuses to let this get her down. She keeps her head high and shows others that she is not bothered by their opinion of her.

This was a fast fun read. I recommend to any who enjoy historical romances written today.
