A young American lady inherits an old British manor and must take up residence there as terms of the estate. Also in permanent residence is a dangerous-seeming man who may possibly be a werewolf. Obviously, the two are inexplicably attracted to each other, even though they have nothing in common and mostly spend time trading insults. I found myself not really caring about either of them, so I stopped reading the book.

Moonstruck
Typical magical nonsense. Good witch vs bad witch, true love to break the spell.

Get Thee a Cat
A young man and woman argue constantly, of course they are really in love.

One Magic Moment
Who is her true love - the man she has had a crush on since childhood or the younger brother & best friend.

Heart's Desire
Amity thinks she is too old for love, the sea captain thinks all he needs is his ship.

This was definitely a new type of book for me. Texas Rangers against samurai sword wielding Asian gangs. I just couldn't get into the whole premise. There was plenty of action and went at a great place, but seeing gang members walking around Texas with swords just kinda blew it out of the water for me. I also didn't see the connection between Zach and Hana. They only see each other once in the first half of the book then only a couple more times before spouting'I love yous' to each other. Might pick up another book in this series, might not.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

A Sharp Masamune Samurai blade forged centuries ago for the Nakatomi family lies at the center of this story. I wonder what stories a sword forged sometime in the 13th or 14th century would have to tell if it could speak. That is what I imagined at times while reading this book.

Zach Travis is a wanderer and warrior. After his stint as an Army Ranger he is contemplating what to do next when Hana Nakatomi breaks into his family home. This event and those that follow decide his future.

This is a story filled with history, family, honor, evil, Yakuza-like gangs, love and drama. There is affection, caring, friendship, a bit of steam and hopefully the prelude to the story of Ernie and Abby at some point in the future. Though there are Texas Rangers in this story it is more, a whole lot more, than just a romance involving a Ranger and the woman he will end up with. And, I thoroughly enjoyed it and also recommend it because it had me thinking and caring and googling to find information out and totally immersed in the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: Texas Rangers swear to uphold the law to the letter. But Captain Ross Sinclair isn't about to play by the rules to destroy a major human trafficking cartel—especially now that the only chance to break this case just strode into his life with attitude as long as her gorgeous legs. Heiress Emm Rothschild is taking names and raising hell as she searches for her abducted sister and niece. And the evidence this wild-child turns up sets off a lethal chain of events—challenging Ross to keep her reckless determination and seductive daring up close and dangerously personal . . .

Now a blindsiding betrayal has Emm heading straight into harm's way. And Ross will have to put his badge and career on the line to get justice—and prove to the woman he loves that a Ranger's word is a forever bond . . .

Gothic, thy alias is cheese. The Trelayne Inheritance, surprisingly, isn’t as cheesy as I figured it would be because of the, ya know, THEME (whispers: vampires…) It’s a modern day take on the older genre, complete with castles, paranormal activity, over the top love interest, mystery, twists, and ominous warnings around every corner…

People like to make fun of these mini soap operas but really some of them are surprisingly intricate. This one was better than I’d hoped it’d be. The story seems a little weak for most of the book, and I guessed the surprise that came up in regard to the villain. Still, the journey entertained because the heroine was feisty, the friend funny, and there was always something strange going on to hold attention.

Humor is done well enough. I dug the hero as realistically handsome. The author was more or less paving the plot as she went with regard to the mother story, but it ends up working at the end.

Overall it’s not the best of its kind but it’s actually very good for a paranormal romance vampire gothic type. There’s an actual story, it’s fun reading it, they hold off on the unrealistic clichés that usually accompanies this type. I was a bit bummed with an aspect with the end and what happened as I feel it’s overdone in this type as a happily ever after solution for vampire PA stories, but not enough to mind that much.

If you’re in the mood for a gothic, this one delivers a few fun-filled hours.

Unfortunately I didn't realize this was genre Romance. Much too fluffy (yes) and cliched for me. Not bad, just blah. But it did help me sleep better for a few nights so I guess that's a good thing...

As Chachi Arcola on "Happy Days" TV show would say--"Wa, wa, wa!!", for the action in this book.

An awesome romantic suspense. Well written with a great group of characters. Texas Ranger Captain Ross Sinclair is settled into his life in Texas quite nicely thank you very much. While it might be lonely at times, and he would love to have a family of his own, that doesn't seem to be in the cards for him. That is until Emm Rothschild comes flying into his life. While she's in San Antonio under the guise of preservation work for Ross, her real reason is to track her sister and niece who she fears have been kidnapped by a human trafficking cartel. His life will never be the same and he's fine with that!!

Full of suspense, mystery, and adventure! I recommend this one.

Wonderful book! I thoroughly enjoyed it and was unable to put it down – ended up reading all day – just getting up to do a few chores then rushing back to continue reading.

This is the story of Emm and Ross and what a story it is! Both have been looking for a while hoping to find their perfect partner and though their first encounter might have kept them apart - it did not. Emm is in town to look at some old buildings and write a report that will preserve them but she is also trying to locate her kidnapped sister and niece. Ross is a wealthy Texas Ranger who owns the buildings Emm is there to inspect and also on a task force looking into human trafficking that may overlap with Emm’s quest.

This book has plucky intelligent women, men that are very good at all of the jobs they undertake and a story that is compelling. I would love to find out what happens to Abby and Yancy and hope their stories will be told in future books.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the copy of this book to read and review.

Shelley Holmes investigates a strange situation where a girl is being involved with some sort of strange paranormal event where she is being sucked into dreams of cats, Arielle Baylock is being seduced by both light and dark and it's quite dangerous.

I read this a while ago and don't remember much but while it was readable it didn't make me want to read more by this author, neither did it make me want to avoid the author.½

A very good story that started with the character's wish to avenge what happened to his father and his life and had it all changed when he fell in love and started to look forward to a future. And the strong girl who once vowed to never fall in love again eventually began to understand her tormentor and had her heart stolen by his gentleness and his wish to make her happy.

And just like the fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast, I love this story best from all that I've read so far of Colleen Shannon's! It might not be very funny but it gave me a very good feeling and that's what's important, right? :)

I think this is the first book of Colleen Shannon that I've read and came to love. I've recently re-read it--because I forgot the plot since it's been so long--and still I find the story warm to the heart. As one of the reasons why stories are told, this book contains morals and messages that should be taken seriously by everybody who comes to read this. This is one of the reasons why I love to read a lot of books. And one of the reasons why I can't give it less than 5 stars.

A very heart-warming story indeed and a very well composed one.

This was amusing - I started laughing from the third page, when I realised that this interpretation of the Frog Prince story was all about a Frenchman!

The Trelayne Interitance has very good reviews elsewhere but I just couldn't seem to get into this book. Angelina/Angel is some kind of historical blood scientist assitance or something coming home to her family land and there is a vampire there who is staking other vampires. Maybe I just wasn't into this right now. Giving it a two...maybe I'll go back a try to read again at a later date.
