- Sarah Segal was born in Wysokie Mazowickie, Poland, the city where her parents had suffered through the horrors of the Holocaust in World War II. In May 1950, she and her family immigrated to the new State of Israel. There they lived with hundreds of other European survivors in tents and under grim conditions for a year and a half before finding permanent residence at Moshav Magdiel.

She completed a degree in criminology at Bar Ilan University and went on to graduate with honors in marketing studies from New York Institute of Technology in NYC.
She joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and served in various positions, rising to the rank of major. In 1986, she went back to Manhattan and started her own successful real estate company.
After the tragedy of 9/11, she returned home to Israel. There she volunteered with Tsevet, the IDF Veteran’s Association. She is the author of the memoir An Heiress of Holocaust: How My Family Survived the Holocaust and the Lasting Effects on My Life, published in 2020.
