4355. High Eagle and His Sioux, by John M. Scott, S.J. (read 27 Aug 2007) This is a booklet made up mostly of letters which Father Joseph Zimmerman, born on a farm near Westphalia, Iowa, wrote while he was a Jesuit missionary among the Sioux Indians in South Dakota. He worked as such missionary from 1930 till his death on Sept 21, 1954, except for a few years when he was assigned elsewhere. Reading these letters one is amazed at the suffering that he and the poor Indians went thru in years of drought and depression. I found the account edifying and it evoked from me much admiration for the work that Father Zimmerman did for the people to whom he ministered.… (más)
