The note to the reader was perhaps the most informational part of this book because it spoke about the earth's rotation, the history of time, and how timezones were created. This book would perfect for first and second grade when they are beginning to learn about time, but not overemphasize or overwhelm students with information. While not overly informational, it touches on how it may be morning in one place but bedtime in another place. I liked The illustrator's use of maps layered underneath correlating images and thought that was very clever.

This book travels the world to show children what people are doing in the world right now. From baking bread in Italy to someone going fishing this book shows children that there is so many things to do around the world, and that the world around them is on the go.

A great way to teach kids that not everyone in the world sleep at the same time or wake up at the same time. when we go to sleep at night can be the beginning of the day for someone else, while ours is ending.

An interesting comparison of cultures and a realistic depiction of the world at all hours of the day. This book is really interesting for younger elementary aged children who can make text to self connections between themselves and children from other places around the world. It's also fun for them to acknowledge that while they're sleeping, people around the world are actively participating in the world.

In a starred review for "Publisher's Weekly," the reviewer wrote, [Stacey] Schuett [author and illustrator] proves as nimble with words as with a paintbrush. . .intimate prose and atmospheric images blend the mundane, the mysterious, and the humorous."
