I can identify with several of the characters who feel that they got the short end of the stick or who are angry with God about events that have happened in their lives.

I do find it odd that a college professor dates his teaching assistant/student (and no one seems to object, nor does he get into any trouble with the university).

The fisherman had never been so wrong when he failed to see God's hand in the storm.
