Oh my gosh, this author has churned out 180 novels. I'm amazed she hasn't "crossed my desk" before.

Inked Temptation ticked all the boxes for a successful romance novel - it's not a romantic comedy but a mending-of-broken hearts novel.

As much as I enjoyed the escapism of it, I found it a little hackneyed - the grief stricken grumpy hunk, and the angry grumpy hunk, in cabins they've escaped to in the woods, testing their loving families as they try to navigate forward.

I'm not belittling the heartbreak - it touched me deeply - but particularly when it came to the last third, the novel was too predictable, with an incomplete, flat ending.

The storytelling set the scene for major sparks between the MCs but the writing didn't capitalise on the potential - I kept feeling manipulated by the formulaic way it was rushed and under-developed.

Short Read

There was too much filler and a lot of disconnect with the characters. I love the Inked series and the Gallaghers because I was able to get to know them. I didn't get that with Derek and Olivia. Left a lot of questions.

I think I may have grown out of the genre, or I just have bad luck with it lately.

After all of the Wilder Brothers retire from the military, Eli convinces them to buy a winery in Texas and make it into an event and wedding destination. After being open for a year, the business has gone through two wedding planners, so Eli resorts to hiring the woman he met and danced with at a wedding years before. Even though she accepted a wedding proposal from another man at the same wedding, Eli believes that she is the answer to their problems. Alexis's ex-husband has taken all of her money and run her wedding planning business into the ground, so she is desperate for the job with the Wilder's even though she knows that things will be awkward with Eli, but she hopes to make the best of it.

One Way Back to Me is a romance that is light on substance and character development. The story comes to a satisfying conclusion by the end but not before offering one dimensional characters that are full of cliches and a simple plot with a small amount of suspense. Unfortunately, the most pivotal moment of their first meeting takes place off page before the story even begins. This book does introduce many characters that will most likely be part of future books in the series, but the time spent to establish these backstories takes away from the story of Alexis and Eli. Overall, One Way Back to Me would make an enjoyable category romance but doesn't embody the essence of a mainstream romance.

I have listened to random books in the Montgomery Ink world, none actually in order. I first knew of Arden in her brother Cross's story, Forever Only Once. It was nice to hear how she and Liam met and fell in love. This is a heartbreaking story based on the situation with Arden's health. It was also a beautiful story about family taking care of each other and this man choosing to stick around when leaving would be easier.

Narration by Joe Arden was great and I felt like he brought a lot of life and emotion into the story and was not just reading it me. I cannot tell if it was the narration or the actual story that made this one of my favorites by Carrie Ann Ryan. Either way, I just know this one will be hard to top.

A good introduction to the Montgomery Ink series. This version has what appears to be updated narration by Tor Thom. The book was not long enough to go too much in depth with the story but i don't that is a bad thing. I really enjoyed this sweet story and it made me interested in the family so I plan to listen to the rest of the series.

Great start to another spin-off of Montgomery Ink. Blake and Graham meet while he is on the job preparing to restore a beautiful old home that has been neglected. I liked the story overall but I did not understand the purpose of Blake being so secretive and protective. I don;t want to say much more as it would be a spoiler.
Narration was fine. Feels like it was being read to me, which is okay, but I personally prefer the narration to seem more like voice acting other than reading. Again, nothing wrong with it, it's just not not my preference.
Overall, I recommend the book as a good start to this spin-off and will continue to listen to pretty much any audiobook Carrie Ann Ryan puts out. There is always something I'm going to like about it.

Sweet second chance story with an adorable witch. Not my usual kind of book. I typically prefer romantic comedy and contemporary over stories with supernatural elements but have to say I really enjoyed this book. It was a fairly short listen but I felt connected to both the characters. I really hated the way Jordan allowed the bullies to get to her and run her off. Matt's brothers all seemed like they have some pretty great stories so I will be listening to the rest of the series.

Gregory Salinas is good with the narration and like that he is the narrator for the rest of the series.

New Adult Paranormal Romance Suspense
Very disappointing. Highly repetitive. Slow moving with very little action.
The concept and the main characters have a lot of potential. But it all falls flat. I am really sorry to say this because I really wanted to like this story. In truth, it barely hits New Adult level. It seems more like a Young Adult book that was revised to be New Adult or Adult at the last minute. And have I mentioned the repetition! Every time I started to get interested I was hit with repetition or a maturity level that was aggravating.
If this was my only connection to Carrie Ann Ryan's writing I would probably never read another of her books. This is the only book in this series I have read. I checked the rating for the other books in this series and they seem high, but now I am leary......
I have read a couple of her other books years ago. I remember liking them, but I can't find them on my kindle. Which means I probably read her in an anthology. I have some of her other books and will read them soonish, but I am in no hurry to continue this series.

Loved the new look into this Montgomery clan. Kind of nice to see some rivalry, if even though only thru their father's eyes. Looking forward to reading the remainder

Another awesome book about the Montgomery clan. I love this series. It was so great to see Lee and Paige get together. Looking forward to the next series and see how Leif gets HEA. This series is so great you want to go to Colorado and get a tattoo from one of the Montgomery's. :)

This was a cute (semi) enemies turned lovers (if you can call it that since it only lasted 2-3 chapters max) office romance.

Despite the instant love feels I got from this read, Prior and Paris were smoking hot together. I think they were able to even each other out and I enjoyed that they were straight forward with their relationship. It felt mature as in no petty ass drama that typically happens in romance drama (cliche misunderstandings, fights and all that jazz). Besides a crazed ex and the typical family drama, it was smooth sailing. I do want to point out that this did have an overly predictable storyline. It didn't seem like a whole lot was happening at some points of the story beside the last two chapters when the main characters are assaulted.

Nonetheless, it wasn't terrible so I'll give this author another go.

Decent story. Didn't really grip me. It sort of seemed surface writing. I didn't love or hate any of the characters. Competently written but no real spark for me. Not really sure why it took the hero so long to figure his s**t out. And that was a totally douchbaggy thing he did to cause the obligatory breakup at the end.

First time reading this author but found myself enjoying this. Lots of details went into the story, I think so that it could be the backbone of the stories to come. There is still more store for Gideon and Brie.

This wasn't what I was expecting from this author when I started this book. It was good but it could have been better in my opinion. There were so many areas that could have been fleshed out. I did like the characters of Elise and Million and wished that the story was longer because it seemed to read pretty fast.

Even though not my favorite it still was solid. I'm still a huge fan of this author. I'm hoping that this book was just a one off for me.

I had high hopes for this book. I love this Underworld Kings universe. However, this one felt short and just seemed to end ad the story was getting interesting. I'm still a fan of this author but this book was not my favorite.

The large majority of romance novels focus on the dating and beginning stages of the couple. Very few explore what happens are the wedding vows. How does a couple find their way back to each other after a tragedy? How do they cope?

The first few times, this book came across my email, I ignored it. It didn't look like my cuppa tea. I'm not a fan of biker clubs and the real tough guy type of books which I thought this was. I'm glad I took a chance on it. Even though this book is the smack in the middle of a series --Roxie's siblings and numerous cousins began the series. It can be read as a standalone which is not always the case especially since there are so many books within the series. I figured I would spend the first few chapters playing catch up that focusing on the main characters. Luckily, the focus of the entire book are the two main characters--Roxie and Carter. They have been married for only a few years and have fizzled out. Tragedy struck instead of leaning on each other. They shut the other out until they became a shell of who they were.

Normally, this is the point where I enter into a brief synopsis of the storyline with a favorite aspect of the book. I won't this time. I won't because ...this book is different. It explores how the couple finds themselves and individuals. It takes them a bit to find it. Carter needed to evaluate his worth and why he never felt "good enough" for Roxie. Roxie felt that Carter only married for one reason and when that reason was gone....what was left? Roxie also had a few more self issues such as comparing herself to her siblings. I mean, anyone who does that will likely feel de-valued. Once a person jumps into that rabbit hole only negativity prevails.

Carter and Roxie needed to learn how to fall in love...not again. But to begin with. Their love story began in a whirlwind. They needed to slow down and appreciate the other. Discover each other, appreciate each other.

This book will move to my re-read shelf.

Carrie Anne Ryan writes great books that stand on their own but also help to flesh out the world that all her intertwined stories exist in. She is one of my favorite cozy Sunday afternoon/relaxing beach day reads. All of her books are must reads for me.
