While Vanessa's deranged ex-boss might seem over the top nuts, many, myself included, have had to work under someone on that sliding scale of deranged power. That makes reading this book a bit too realistic. Her mother's posse, her good friends who suffered the same humiliation and job loss, plus the pleasantly surprising unemployment claims guy who shares her cat love, and you have quite the cast to play out what's a satisfying tale of revenge.

A fun and oh so satisfying tale of a young woman who is smart and quite unhappy about the treatment she gets from males in the workplace. Ana, whose given name is Indiana, is a crackerjack coder, but never gets credit for her work. After losing her cool in a meeting, she expects to get fired, but instead, is shunted to a different development team. It's run by an even bigger misogynist. Even worse, he is beyond incompetent. When Ana emails him with some corrections, he assumes she's a guy and starts asking her to do more. The bulk of the story involves her challenges to avoid direct contact so she can keep her job and hide her gender. Those are often over the top and hilarious, thanks to her friends and co-workers. She also meets a team member who not only is good looking, but respects her big time. Read the book for a great time and a chance to cheer on an example of female empowerment.… (más)

This book about a female coder was a bit of a slow start for me. I loved Anastasia Ryan’s YOU SHOULD SMILE MORE, so I stuck with it, and I was not disappointed!

Ana's work storyline was unfortunately close to home for so many of us. This made her relatable to me and I thought her character was just quirky enough to be funny and loveable. There were so many laugh-out-loud moments in this book, I’m chuckling just remembering some of them. Indiana’s dad’s character was a hilarious standout.

Overall, it was just a joy to read. Look for this one to be published in January of 2024. 4⭐️
