A in-detail look at the Truman presidential campaign of 1948, based on interviews with Truman's campaign staff. Along with interviews and research on all the major players in a campaign that virtually everyone thought had been decided before it even began. Ross looks into every aspect and decision made by all parties, and sums up the results of Truman's astonishing victory.

974 The Loneliest Campaign: The Truman Victory of 1948, by Irwin Ross (read 9 Nov 1968) This is a fascinating account of the historic campaign of 1948, which I remember well as the most pleasant political surprise of my life.
