ROSSBACH

This short chapter book would be delightful for students in grades 3rd through 6th. Bernie is a beagle who likes to cook German food. Mr. Gruber picked up Bernie as a puppy to go hunting with him. That quickly did not go over well with Bernie. Trying to stay out of trouble, Bernie started to secretly help out in the kitchen. He enjoyed cooking over anything. Mrs. Gruber quickly found him and forced him to stop. He was an unusual one. Bernie was thrown to the streets. He eventually found a German village and house who took him in. He helped Ilse, who had recipes from her grandmother, cook and advance her restaurant. Bernie became famous chef for his authentic German cooking.

The reasons why I picked it up off of the shelf was because I have a pet beagle at home, and my family has German decent. I enjoyed this book and I think that children will get a kick out of a talking dog that can cook.… (más)
