Tyler Robbins

Vampires have a reputation for being ruthless. The ones in this book are no exception, but they are not the only ones. In fact, there are beings worse than them: with none of the vampire drawbacks, the so-called hybrids may have started as lab experiments, and not all of them even retained their intelligence, but they are potentially much, much worse than vampires. This is their story, and it holds a lesson about making choices for all of us: no matter what our DNA may say and never how our history tries to shape us, in the end, the choice of what we do and how we behave is entirely our own.

Tristan is a vampire who has it made. Owner of a club, which he uses to draw in "blood donors", and with Caleb, a lover who adores him and his progeny, by his side, his life couldn't be better. Until he faces a threat to his life and an unexpected enemy is suddenly about to take everything he loves away from him. He is severely tested and he quickly finds that attraction to Gauge is one thing, but the potential for more with him than a quick affair is what has Tristan really interested—if he can survive the coming fight.

Caleb was an abused boy, freed and changed into a vampire by Tristan. He would do absolutely anything for his Sire, and his feelings go far beyond gratitude. One thing he will never feel with him is equal, and that is where Gauge might come in. Before they can explore this idea further, all hell breaks loose—and it takes all of Caleb's energy to just stay alive.

Gauge is en ex-Navy SEAL and even though he is no longer on active duty, in fact, he is no longer entirely human, his beliefs and behavior have hardly changed. He is sent to Tristan as a security advisor but finds so much more than an assignment. Gauge has some dark secrets, and one of them is about to come and haunt them all. Attracted to both Tristan and Caleb, for very different reasons, he decides to protect them with his life. After all, that is what he was trained for—all he needs to do is hang on until he can kill their common enemy.

With quite a few revelations about the main characters' past, some twists and turns in the plot that made me dizzy (all good), and great passion between all three men of this highly unusual and initially unintentional threesome, this story definitely held my attention. If you like suspenseful stories about vampires and other paranormal beings, if you enjoy reading about men who will fight tooth and nail to protect the ones they love, and if you're looking for a book with enough passion and testosterone to take away your breath, then you will probably like this novella.

While I really, really enjoyed this book, it was a tough one to read because of the subject matter. BOTH MCs were suffering through serious issues of loss and PTSD which made for some hardcore angst that put the romance firmly in the backseat. Hey, I'm all about the angst, but this one had me hoping for a splash of the paranormal to get these boys to smile just a little bit! But once the romance got going, it was lovely and perfect and the HEA was glorious and wonderful. But Ms. Robbins sure did put these two Texas cuties through their paces to get there!

Absolutely recommended to all lovers of military boys and angst and passionate, hot sex. This one is right up your ally! Enjoy!… (más)

This was a good, solid, original werewolf shifter tale of love, family and acceptance (with some wonderful, rough, hot sex thrown in for our enjoyment). You don't necessary need to read the first book to enjoy the second, but it does explain The Becoming, a right-of-passage, in great detail and helps explain many facets of Killian and Quinn's personalities because of the fact neither one of the men got to experience this right-of-passage.

Definitely recommended to all M/M shifter fans who love a hot werewolf story with a sugary sweet HEA. I was all smiles when I finished and I will gobble up any other books in this series that Ms. Robbins happens to write for us.
