'Historically set, informative, and insightful, Rene Ritchie delivers the goods on the little-known art of Yuen Kay-San wing chun kuen...A 'must have' for all wing chun enthusiasts.'-Mrk V. wiley, Martial Arts Illustrated

From Mainland China, Kuen Kay-San wing chun-one of the most rare and elusive branches of the art-is introduced for the first time to the West. With origins amidst the Red Junk Opera performers and anti-Qing revolutionaries of centuries past, and skills honed by the members of the Guangdong constabulary, closed doors and the tradtitional veils of secrecy have always kept this rare art away from the public eye...until now!

Profusely illustrated with hundreds of historical and action photographs, Yuen Kay-San Wing Chun Kuen covers the system's history and development, foundamental concepts and principles, and its training methods, including the complete sup yee sik and siu lien tao forms and their respective fighting applications. For beginners, this book serves as a great introduction to wing chun kuen; for seasoned practitioners, it offers new and unique perspectives into the art.

Rene Ritchie has been studying the Yuen Kay-San system of wing chun kuen since 1990 under the guidance of Ngo Lui-Kay. He is co-author of Complete Wing Chun (Tuttle 1998) and has written articles for such international publications as Martial Arts Illustrated, Martial Arts Masters, and the Wing Chun Kuen Today newsletter. Rene created and maintains the www.wingchunkuen.com site on the Internet and is currently developing several other projects. He works and practices in Eastern Canada.
