I did find it to be quite repetitive saying some of the same words of encouragement over and over. My eyes glazed a little at this.
But, the author went from a 3000 sf home to a 900 sf home because of a job loss and so this was personal to him. He and his wife conquered decluttering and down-sizing. They were forced to declutter and simplify their lifestyle drastically and pretty much overnight.
He laid it out, room by room, on how to clean out the usual basic problem areas that most people do seem to have....you know...start with the 3 piles...keep...recycle...throw away. And he recommends starting by subject instead of going by rooms. For example: Clothes...sort through all clothes in all closets and dressers in every room, then pick something else off your list to sort through. But, I am more of a room by room cleaner and organizer. I like to see it complete before moving on.
I am encouraged to start again, so maybe his repetitive words of encouragement did help a little. Clutter is continuous and it can get very overwhelming.
