I received an e-copy of The Demon Hunter’s, authored by S. B. Redstone, for review consideration. My honest review follows below, freely given.

I rated this novel 2 stars. Having a succubus loose in the White House during the Kennedy administration sounds like the perfect recipe for disaster.

Unfortunately for me, I did not enjoy this book. I thought the idea of a succubus trying to take over the world via Kennedy a pretty interesting story, he does have quite the horn dog reputation. Most of the story focuses on the journey to the White House, with many characters introduced along the way. I read to the end because I was curious how the alternate history would play out, but felt let down. Several of the sex scenes were awkward to read, same with the dialogue.

My favorite characters were the monks, Brother Nikolos and Brother Matteo, their scenes were also the ones I enjoyed reading the most. I thought they were written with a quiet grace.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I didn't really need to peak at the book jacket after I saw the cover art. I had a feeling that this would be a good book...call it instinct.

I actually was able to get through this book faster than I anticipated. With 284 pages, I thought I would be reading for at least 2-3 days. Thank goodness my amazing kindle has the text to speech ability. I was able to listen to this book while driving and doing housework. (gotta love technology)

This book is just a down and dirty thriller. There is more than enough blood and guts to make any light hearted individual run away screaming. The psychological aspect of this book is a little tricky to follow at times. It's easy to get caught up in what is being said between characters and what is being thought.

The story starts off with a vicious murder of a wealthy family. The house is burned to erase any evidence. This just sets the ball moving so fast that the each murder even more gruesome than the last. Once Lt. Josh Diamond is brought in to investigate, he tries to take a laid back approach to the murders. However, his new and unexpected partner, Detective Sergeant Aubrey McKenzie enters the case; things start to get tricky for the murderer. With each victim that is murdered, you can more than likely start to guess who the actual murderer is. (At least I had it figured out) As for Lt. Diamond and Detective McKenzie, they have their own tensions that are building, and then needs to be addressed.

This book was well thought out in regards to how a human can just lose touch with reality and flip out. Just the amount of psychological details in this story showed that the author had done his homework really well.

I would like to point out; this book does have strong language laced throughout. I personally wasn’t offended by the language, but some might. So before jumping into this book, if you are offended by cursing, you better think twice. Also, I can just say, I will never be able to look at a pair of knitting needles the same, EVER!

In conclusion, this was a great book. I wouldn’t suggest this book to anyone that can’t graphic details of murders. This was a great book that had me begging for more with each turn of the page. I can for see that this could potentially lead into a sequel. If so, I will be coming back for blood and guts and gore!
