Billie Ray

These original needlepoint designs from the Iowa governors mansion were compiled by Billie Ray. At the time the book came out, in 1980, she was Iowa's First Lady. The twenty or so needlepoint designs include the Great Seal of Iowa, Terrace Hill Mansion, goldfinch and wild rose (state bird and flower). An alphabet is included. Each section has a write-up about the historical significance of that selection. There is a glossary of the stitches used in the back. A very nice book, both from a historical perspective and for the needlepoint designs.… (más)
