Sasha has been his captain, but her brother is on another ship, so he offers to take her and her little brother and sister to meet him. Captain Sasha's also working to try to save the seals from extinction. They both have difficult trials to face, rough roads to walk, and learn lessons of faith and trust. Unexpected twists. Deep family ties. Wonderful love story. Very real, believable story.

Tomorrow’s Lasting Joy is a wonderful story and an excellent wrap up to this series! If you have been reading the Texas Promise series, then you will know that Cain is a bit of an outlier for the group of friends who have been the main male characters in the previous novels. Cain’s story has been hinted at in bits and pieces throughout the series, however, the book directly before this one, Tomorrow’s Steadfast Prayer, would be an especially good one to read immediately before this one in order to learn more about Cain’s background. It will also help you to know what has been going on recently in both the town and friend group.

I adored Cain and Anna Mae! It was so clear that these two loved each other, but it was hard to imagine any way that they would be able to make a life together. It was heartwarming to realize that Cain was going to continue searching for Anna Mae out in the desert on his own, especially as he did not hold out any hope that she was still alive. And I loved the way he cared for her and helped her recover.

The way things played out in this story and the way these two ended up together was perfect. When they realized that they loved each other, my heart was so happy, yet they still had some trying times ahead of them as they needed to survive and navigate the future together. The epilogue was one of the best that I have ever read! I am also excited to read the next series that will be set in Alaska and has a side character who crosses over from this series into that one.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Naomi Rawlings has penned another deeply satisfying story with this new addition to her Texas Promise series. The premise caught my attention and my past enjoyment of Rawlings’s other tales had me turning the pages. The characters were realistic, layered, and engaging. Wes is a wonderful hero—courageous and capable, and Keely’s courage, determination, and grit make her the perfect partner if they can get beyond their pasts.

This book can be read as a standalone, but there are characters from previous books in the series that make appearances, so you may want to read the first two books first.

“Had he started trusting himself and his own decisions more than trusting God?”
“. . .trusting God meant more than just trusting Him when things were easy.”

With plenty of action, suspense, intrigue, and a dash of romance, combined with an underlying message of trust and hope, this story hits the spot. I recommend it to those who enjoy clean historic fiction with a faith thread.

This book came to me via two friends: one gave it to the other who passed it on to me. This book is also from the now defunct Love Inspired Historical line. (Love Inspired continues with it's Love Inspired and Love Inspired Suspense lines--it just ended the Historical line as far as I know.)

I think this is the first Love Inspired Historical book that I've read that was set in a country other than the United States. The story is set in France around the time of the French Revolution--at least as best I can tell.

The good thing about the Historical line was that it did tend to weave Christianity into the storyline more often than the other two, more contemporary lines do. In this case, one of the main points is forgiveness.

But the Historical line was probably also the one I liked least of the 3 options: i.e. if you put a book from each of the 3 lines in front of me, I'd read the other two before picking up the Historical one. I don't know why that is. I've read good stories with historical settings--but it's always a struggle for me to pick up a fiction book with a historical setting for some reason.

The Reluctant Enemy continues the Belanger Family Saga series by Naomi Rawlings. This is a fascinating historical Christian fiction series set in France and following different members of the Belanger family. Danielle Belanger who was a child in book #2 is featured as a young woman in this one. She is courageous, daring, and compassionate as she helps a group of Englishmen travel toward the coast of France. Lord Gregory Halston is trying to free his captured brother when his plans go awry. I enjoyed seeing Gregory and Danielle’s relationship change and grow.

With lots of intrigue, suspense, action, and a big dash of romance, this tale is a great addition to the series.

The Widow’s Secret is the second book in Naomi Rawlings’ Belanger Family Saga series. It’s a wonderful story of redemption, forgiveness, and hope. Brigitte Dubois is courageous, resourceful, and striving for a new beginning after her husband is killed. Jean Paul Belanger is a wonderful hero trying to forgive himself for wrongs he’s done in the past by being kind and compassionate to others. I enjoyed their interactions and seeing their relationship grow. Rawlings has created some fantastic characters and placed them in some wonderful and interesting situations and settings. This is a compelling series which historical romance fans will enjoy.

The review I read on Christian Fiction Girl's blog sold me. I like Christian historical romance (in that order). This book did a great job keeping it real, clean, and biblical and is historically accurate. Okay I binge read it in one day okay? Looking for the next one is like ANTICIPATION!

Naomi Rawlings knows how to deliver a charming western historical romance complete with lots of suspense and adventure. The main characters are realistic and endearing, and the stellar cast of secondary characters adds to the enjoyment of the tale. Charlotte Westin is a lovable heroine who is quite independent but lacks some of the social graces she thinks she needs to win a husband. Sheriff Daniel Harding has loved Charlotte for years but thinks he’s not good enough for her. When she asks him for flirting lessons, he reluctantly agrees to help her.

Themes of forgiveness of self and others, the importance of love in a relationship, and the worth of each person, give the story added depth and dimension. This story is the second book in Rawlings’ Texas Promise series, but it can be read alone. There are appearances of characters from the first book and a few loose ends that I feel will probably be tied up in the next book. I’m looking forward to another adventure from this author soon.

This was a sweet, gentle read. Living near Lake Superior myself, I enjoyed reading a story set there. Ms. Rawlings did a good job of creating conflict and tension, and both the hero and heroine were engaging characters. Nice story.

Normally I give most of the books at least 3 stars but this one couldn't hold my interest. Part of it is not the book's fault. Historicals are not my favorite part of the Love Inspired line. But I found the characters uninteresting and the plot not gripping enough for me to be inspired to read it. I finally realized I really was struggling to want to finish the book at all.

Confusion reigns. Luke's "estranged" grandfather dies--yet this "estranged" grandfather had enough of a relationship with Luke's sister to foot the bill for her education at a boarding school--a school he also supported financially.

Luke's mother is dying (Wyoming), but she doesn't want to tell her daughter, doesn't want to take the girl away from school (New York) just to see her mother one last time. Luke, however, as the man, decides that he knows what's best and sets out for New York to not only settle his "estranged" grandfather's estate but to take his sister out of school and bring her home to Wyoming. (How he plans to accomplish this before his mother dies at a time when traversing from New York to Wyoming was not as easy as getting on a plane is not explained--it's basically a way to set up the meeting between Luke and Elizabeth.

It's always a shock to realize how few rights women had in the past. The education of women to this level during this time is unconventional. Women had few occupational options and most were expected to get married and keep house/raise children rather than working outside the home for pay--though some did help supplement the household income by selling eggs or butter or sewing or laundering etc.

I did not blame Jessalyn for her reaction at seeing her long, lost husband. It would have been hard to be alone as long as she was with three children to raise and little money. It would take Thomas a lot of begging for me to have even wanted to talk to him. This made me laugh and cry. This had a great story to it. I look forward to more books by Naomi Rawlings. I received this ebook from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I love the Eagle Harbor series and this one did not let me down. I did not want to put this down. Lindy was such a wonderful character. She was very brave even with her lung problems and what she had been through as a younger child. She learned trust in this story. I loved the romance in this story and the little bit of intrigue. Keep these books coming to us to read. I received this book from the author and I have given a fair and honest review of my own free will.

This was a well-written book. I like how Rebekah and Gilbert interact with each other. You know there's that sense of unavoidable attraction between them. They're both stubborn to a fault, yet both follow their own paths, even though it separates them for awhile. Gilbert has dreams that he wants to see come alive, and he is willing to sacrifice true love for that dream. Rebekah wants to help her own family (via distance) and still live her own life and make her own choices. She feels that her family doesn't get it. Gilbert thinks her family loves her and protects her and she's too stubborn to see it. As the story progresses, they finally realize what they both really want.

I really enjoyed this story and all the characters. This is the 3rd book in the Eagle Harbor series. I would recommend reading the first two in the series to really know what is going on with each of the characters. I received this ebook from the author for a fair and honest opinion.

Love's Unfading Light is a story of hardship, despair and hopelessness redeemed by the love of God and sealed with the God-given love of a man for a woman. Mac and Tressa's lives have been painful. Unforgiving townspeople make their future look bleak, but as the pair grows closer, their view of life's hurts becomes narrower as their hearts become more open to God's love and His plan for them. The emotion is overpowering, the heartache intense and the redemption profound. Ms. Rawlings has created a story not soon to be forgotten along with its underlying message of God-given hope in the midst of worldly evil.
Eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.

Christian Historical Romance. I didn't read the first book in the series before reading this. It might have been helpful for insight into some of the characters, but I don't think it was necessary to have read it to enjoy this book. I found it quite interesting to read about this great-lakefront town Eagle Harbor and its residents. There have always been great storms on the great lakes, but not always someone dedicated to go out and rescue storm-wrecked passengers. There have been lighthouses - and before electricity it was a huge job to keep that light lit.

Elijah lost his father in a shipwreck, but he wasn't there at the time to try to save him. It affected him strongly though, so he's vowed to help save as many as he can - even without the resources that he is applying for to increase their safety. His best friend Mac (like a brother) is in charge of the lighthouse, but sometimes has to go out on the rescue team.

In the lead story in this book Mac left his wife in charge of the lighthouse light, but she is pregnant and became ill, so the light went out. As a result, another boat was lost with some extra valuable items on board - owned by the wealthiest people in the area. And of course Elijah and Mac are blamed for the loss. One of these owners, Gilbert, has been a long-time enemy and sparring partner of Elijah's. The other is the father of Victoria, the woman Elijah loves. Victoria is a smart and sensitive woman, but feels she's a failure, doesn't feel attractive, and she has a stutter. Her family is a large part of the reason she feels this way - but she will learn that they aren't as wonderful as they think they are. The only one she's ever been comfortable enough around to not stutter is Elijah. But she is expected to marry Gilbert - who is of her class - and it is a great coup for her father's business.

Each character has their own obstacles to overcome, and love triumphs over all!

This was an enjoyable Christian historical fiction. The characters were so good. They just flowed together well. I love to read about this area of the Great Lakes. The romance is well done and I had a hard time putting this book down. I received a copy of this ebook from the author for a fair and honest opinion.
