A trivia book centering on the shallowness of 1980s music entertainment. The title from the book comes from “attempts to recreate this joyous atmosphere by digging deep into the decade and pulling out the familiar and forgotten.” As one would assume from the time reference much of the questions comes from the advent of MTV (back when it actually contained music). The book is divided into “quiz sets” but would have been more enjoyable if it had been in categories rather than just random questions (answers are contained). Obviously, Michael Jackson and Madonna are featured heavily into the questions. Many of the questions had a list of words and the reader was to name the title of the song. Most of the questions are strictly from the top 40 list so someone who did not seek out such crass commercialism from this time may not answer these questions. What I perceived as obscure were actually what was popular from this very shallow time period. A fun way to pass a few hours.… (más)
