This cute rom-com had me from the first page and fuzzy Texas Longhorn slippers. Megan and Ryder have an adorable meet cute in a coffee shop when her best friend doesn’t show and she walks up to smack a kiss on a random stranger she thinks is said best friend (so funny.) It turns out the guy she accidentally kissed is a producer on a show that her best friend sends her to audition for and she becomes the show’s super-secret narrator, the Mystery Blogger. I loved the industry stuff, all the writer’s room and set details, and especially the TEXAS JOKES. Seriously, every Texan needs to read this, you’ll die laughing. Megan and Ryder become friends, but there is clearly something more simmering below the surface on set. This is a cute clean romance that absolutely sizzled. Bring on book two!

I really enjoyed this clean contemporary romance. Brandi is a former movie star who is seeking to escape the spotlight after a film she was starring in does poorly in reviews and the tabloids make up rumors about her and her costar. Stalked by the paparazzi, she flees Hollywood for Houston and uses her art history degree to take on a project organizing a former mentor’s photography collection. It turns out she has chemistry (and some fiery disagreements) with her mentor’s son, Michael, who is a talented but sometimes grumpy and reclusive writer. The writing voice is really fun. I loved the text message exchanges. The scenes with Brandi and her girlfriends from the gym were so much fun. It felt like watching my favorite episodes of Sex and the City. As a native Texan, I loved all the Houston references! The Galleria, muggy Houston weather, Texas flags! I liked how the stresses of Hollywood life were shown, like the constant stalking of the paparazzi everywhere Brandi went. This was a slow-burn romance, with a deep simmering connection. I loved the ensemble feel of the book with so many characters and relationships I connected to. Kayla was one of my favorites. I can’t wait to see if there will be more books in this series!… (más)
