This is a fun, comic style informational text about the unique qualities(“superpowers”) of beavers. It is broken up by these qualities which would make it easy to read in chunks, although it has developing characters, so not out of order. I could see myself using some of this to explore qualities of beavers with 3-5th graders. I don’t know if I would use the whole book as a read-aloud because it is close to 100 pages.

Great nonfiction book. Love the surreal and spooky art to learn about fascinating sea creatures. The words and illustrations are a really inventive way to present information on these odd and wonderful creatures -- love the life and fold. Will be recommending this book and glad to have in at part of my J non-fiction collection

L read this one on her own but I read a little over her shoulder. This "Superpower Field Guide" is immensely appealing and informative. The presentation is attractive without being overwhelming. Back matter includes a glossary (including pronunciation as well as definitions), "further ostrich reading," and some websites and videos. We will definitely be looking for more from this series!
