I fished this one out of the discards book at the public library!
The second in the Leysham Stud series. Ann & Jim Henderson have married & set up home at Leysham Farm.They are starting to train Pilot as a steeplechaser hoping to run him in the Grand National. Meanwhile Easter, the three year old filly, is behaving strangely & refusing to be ridden.
Full of horse-lore & great descriptions of the English countryside & weather, this is a "must read" for horse book buffs. There is a good background story & you can care for the human characters ( It goes without saying that you will love the horses). A little too much conversation in it for my tastes but, ultimately, thoroughly enjoyable.
I adored this book as a 10 year old & still find much to enjoy in it many years later.… (más)
