OMG

I just cannot believe this book ended the way it did. I was so waiting for them to try the serum on Val to see if it actually worked. I kept saying a prayer through the whole book that the serum worked and Val would be normal once again. The stuff this group went through fighting the zombies and everyone else was just unbelievable. Now I have to try and find book 2 to see what happens. Way to leave me hanging!

This is another book that I picked up back before I'd gotten my Kindle, so it was a trek back to the land of Nook for this. I had absolutely no memory of it, and had no idea what to expect other than what the cover seemed to indicate--which was either going to be romance, fantasy, or both.

Both was a good option.

I really don't know what to make of this book. It's an interesting little concept: main character hunts for Bigfoot and lost sister, finds alternate world, and gets herself trapped in a marriage with an immortal.

You know, as you do.

It's not a fantastic book, but it's certainly compelling enough to keep me reading and considering getting the other books in the series. I'm a little irked that it's seven books long, but that's just because I'm a cheapskate. The other major problem I have with this book--and the fact that it's a seven book long series--is that this book one here is almost all prologue. There's a bit of action, but 98% of it all is all building the setting and introducing the characters. This doesn't give me a lot of hope for the future books, and not wondering if it's just going to be a long, drawn-out process to get the plot--when the plot could have been easily told in half as many books. Such a huge pet peeve of mine.

Regardless, the characters are interesting if not incredibly deep, and the plot moves along even with how lost one can feel. (The main character spends a lot of time like that, which helps.) I'm intrigued by Victor and his whole world, and though I want to beat most of the film crew over the head, they're an intriguing counter-balance to the rest. Beth is a nice bit of calm in the storm, so to speak. We've also met a good chunk of side characters which I hope show back up. The plot line with the sister is...shall we say, a bit disappointing, but I won't say much so that I don't spoil anything.

Oh. And then there's Frank. I hate Frank. I'm sure that I'm suppose to consider him a viable third point for the love triangle, but if I were in Sarah's situation, I would have left him high and dry a long time ago. I'm not saying Victor is the better choice--because I'm not sold on him either, but Frank...no. Just no. Get out. So very over him.

I'm still not convinced that I should buy the rest of the series. Has anyone else out there read them, and have ideas on the matter?

Rating: *** (Worth a Look)

If I have to base my rating on the story itself, I would give it four stars. But if I had to base it on length, it would be three stars. At only about thirty pages, I read this easily and enjoyably on the bus. What I didn't like however, was that my kindle ebook claimed it was one hundred and seventy one pages, one hundred and forty of which were ads and sneak peaks for other books. I'm not sure if I'm in the majority of people here, but I'm not really into the whole sneak peak thing in books. I'd rather wait and read the entire book.

Entirely too much dialogue. The concept was intriguing, but it took to long for the character to do anything. Thing were discussed to death.

The world as we know it is gone. Who would have thought that humanity would suffer the same fate as the dinosaurs? When a huge asteroid hits the earth, only a small group of people saw it coming. Armed with the knowledge that the surface of the earth would no longer be habitable, they built a dome under the ocean as a sort of ark in the hopes of saving as many as they possibly could. They watched in horror as the asteroid made it's way towards the earth and people studiously ignored or denied the implications.

It's been years since the asteroid hit the earth and sixteen year old Sky Hammons is desperate to join the small group of humans who are attempting to repopulate the land. Even though the small dome proved to literally be a life saver, Sky is desperate to leave and sees herself as little better than a rat trapped in a cage. Unfortunately, it seems that the leader of humanity may not necessarily believe that everyone should have the right to feel the suns rays on their skin.

I'm truly thankful that Apocalypse is only a novella because I don't think that I could handle a full length book. This short entree was absolutely riddled with grammatical mistakes causing me to re-read portions of it continually trying to divine the meaning of the text. I'm not one to complain about mistakes in a self pub if I can understand the authors meaning but when it becomes a reoccurring problem and detracts from my enjoyment of the story, it's absolutely worth mentioning.

We are told repeatedly that people who complain about the ruler simply disappear without explanation and so what does Sky do? Well, she's constantly running her mouth about how something just doesn't feel right and questioning if they've been lied to about the condition of the surface. If people are suddenly disappearing because they are too vocal, the intelligent response is not to boisterously complain but maybe to investigate quietly and perhaps question even more quietly. Furthermore, if people are disappearing for being vocal or resisting authority, why is Sky still strolling around growing pansies and sparring with her bff? The disappearances of people speaks to authoritarianism but beyond Sky's continually blather about something not feeling right, we were not given any evidence to back up her suspicions. If her government is so evil why are they allowing the people to train with weapons, thus gaining the skills to revolt if necessary?

Then we have the murder of two young women who we are told are innocent by Skye but the government doesn't seem interested in investigating. Here's a question, why should a sixteen year old, known to have a big mouth be privy to the inner workings of any investigation? In fact, what investigator runs around telling the populace what they've learned before establishing who the guilty party is? If that were not enough, Skye takes objection to the removal of the body. Should the authorities have just left the body to rot in a small enclosed public space?

The synopsis says that Apocalypse: Underwater City is dark and upon reaching the end, I don't think it could have been described in a more inaccurate fashion. At best, Apocalypse: Underwater City is twee. It's only three years old but the pop culture references already feel so damn antiquated. Look, I'm a nineties girl and totally love the Smashing Pumpkins, but never has the lyric "Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage", been so misused. We get it, Sky feels trapped but we don't understand is why exactly, despite repeatedly being told by Skye that this is how she feels.

I enjoyed The Zombie Chronicles (Book 1 of 9). There was plenty of action, humor, romance, and intrigue. Almost all the characters are likable. There were a few moments of insane conversation, totally unrealistic for the situation they were in. But overall, not a bad book. I look forward to reading Race For The Cure (Book 2 in the series).

2 Disappointing Stars.

I hate to say this bout this book because I really had high hopes reading it. So I am going to compare it to Sweet Valley High but not in a good way AT ALL. I loved Sweet Valley High but some of the characters were Clueless just as the Heroine was in this book. I did not like Taylor at all. I thought she was a dimwit with half a brain and wanted to reach through the Kindle and shake her a few times.. Okay I know a little harsh but truthfully this is how I felt. I thought that the book was confusing but it left NOTHING to be desired.

I am not upset that the book needed an editor I am just stating a FACT and that is I did not like this book. I am not going to attack anything about the book because I think Chrissy Peebles knows how to tell a story I just feel like sometimes what we think in our heads in Corny and this is what may have happened with this book. It was strange and weird and I just couldn't get into it. I give this two stars because I think Chrissy Peebles has great potential, the book was free, and I it did not Suck entirely.

But taking on the identity of Princess Gloria comes along with dangerous consequences; and slipping on the ruby ring comes with an even higher price.

Overall not a bad book. Just your typical YA story, you know? But it does have a paranormal aspect to it and it did keep me interested enough and got me invested enough in the characters to find out what happens next. 4 out of 5 stars. Pretty good. I would recommend it.

I enjoyed reading "Race for the Cure" and was getting comfortable with the pace when it finally ended with another cliff hanger. I was anxious to get into book #2 after completing the first book, but quickly became disenchanted with the short length. There are more conversations and thoughts about the boys' love interests than of zombies or finding their sister. I viewed the descriptions of the next six books in the series and saw that the short stories continue at the same pace and twists in each book. I love the storyline and want to continue, but not at the current price of admission. The author should consider a boxed set of all 8 episodes for the same cost she is charging for a single edition of the small installments. Until this happens, I won't be purchasing any more single novellas. Good luck in your ventures Chrissy Peebles!

I enjoyed this first book in the series! Two brothers break their long-lost sister out of a military facility in a walled-in city just before she was to be executed. Zombies have roamed the planet for over a year and those in the protected city are dependent and rely upon their protectors, many never learning how to fight and protect themselves. Their sister was bitten, infected and sentenced to death. One brother had befriended a scientist and came upon test vials thought to cure the zombie virus, however, it could not be administered until the sister fully turns into the undead.

During their escape, their helicopter crashes in "zombieland" and they find themselves fighting zombies and escaping from hordes of the undead that tend to suddenly show up. During their trek, the three of them come upon other survivors - some are welcomed into the group and others try to kill them. Their predicaments appear hopeless without a chance of escape, leaving readers anxious and tense for the group's outcome.

The story takes place over the course of a three-day period of time, all along following the progress of the sister as she goes through the various stages of change. This book ends in a cliff-hanger that readers knew was coming, I was forced to purchase book 2 to find out if they succeed. Looking forward to getting back into the tale.

Oh my god!!! I can't wait to see what happens next!!! Dean, Nick, Lucas, Claire, and Jackie are all still together, trying to survive long enough to see if they can cure Val. When she finally turns, some unexpected plot twists occur. And keep occurring... This was the holy moly cliffhanger book... The end was more frustrating than anything I've ever read, and yet... The author has created this awesomely unbelievable world, where zombies reign and people are running scared. It's so believable, that I cannot read it at bedtime, as zombies ( and other horrible viral pandemics) are my biggest fear!

I enjoyed this story, a lot. It's probably YA, so there's no sex, but there was quite a bit of awesome zombie violence, so parents should use their judgement . The first part of the story moves fairly quickly, but it's really just background and character introduction. The main body of the story filled the two young men as try try to keep their estranged sister safe long enough to give her the supposed cure for the zombie virus. Fact paced, and just scary enough that I wouldn't recommend reading at bedtime.

A great concept that was done wonderfully in the Outlander series. If you are looking for a book with that level of depth, this is not it. It is, however, a more light and easy read. There is not a lot of historical detail but, what it lacks in historical reality it makes up in fast paced and likeable characters. I will be reading on as I do want to know what happens.

A totally different kind of adventure! You'll find yourself sitting on the edge, waiting for the next turn of a corner, your heart racing, legs pumping, fearing for your life as you run through this tumultious inhabitans. If dinosaurs aren't enough to scare you! I found myself right there with Casey and the boys,Mike and Jack, teaming up against the impossible, all while dealing with raging hormones.

A must read for those who love the thrill of a wild and dangerous adventure . . . with a twist!

The second book in the Ruby Ring series is fantastic! Move over Vampires, Hello Immortal King Victor! I loved this series. Sarah's journey is exciting with danger lurking all around. The bond between sister's is strong, eternal even and Sarah proves just how far she'll go, not even an army of Immortals out for her head will stop her. She has a stubborness that I love in a heroine. She's no pushover and gives King Victor a run for his...oh shall we say, vows?! Sarah doesn't realize just how loyal and true her Immortal king is ... or is he? If you're a vampire lover, then suck in some new blood and dare to be drawn into the the Immortal world of white ... I mean HOT Knights and step into the portal with Sarah Larker and the gang!
