I bought this book because Dr. White's name is emblazoned on the Charles River bike path. The signs are disappearing since the MDC seems to be focusing on the multi-use aspect of the paths instead of a bicycle highway.

I had not heard of the Dr. White, so I was curious about the man and what he did to reach the lofty status as a path namesake. From the cover, I learned he was a well-respected cardiologist and helped President Eisenhower when he had his heart attack while in office.

A respected doctor, but does it make an interesting story. Not so much. The book is much more about deifying Dr. White and providing an authoritative narrative of his life. It reads like an encyclopedia entry.

Ride, walk, jog, stroll, or skate on the path. There is no need to read this book.
