I found this a very interesting book as it is not a subject matter I have read about before. O'Shea highlights how the cause of Cyprus was advocated by some Irish politicians pre-Independence, most notably T.P. O'Connor, and the contradictions in Greece getting promises from the British for troop support in comparison to the Irish. The book develops quickly and shows how, with few exceptions, the Irish press do not cover the conflict in Cyprus lest questions are asked regarding comparisons with the Border Campaign in Ireland and executions. It was frankly extraordinary to see the extent of Irish individuals in the British Army, Civil Service and Judiciary in Cyprus directly prosecuting the War from north and south of the Border. The links between the IRA and EOKA are also examined in some further detail together with Irish policy at the UN and at the Council of Europe.
