A lovely illustrated short history of Ireland for younger readers, starting with prehistory and running up to (almost) the present day. Hits most of the highlights that you would expect in less than 100 pages, and I think does it in a way that would encourage kids to find out more and to relate to other things they knew about. A Pocket History of the IRA por Brendan O'Brien

O'Brien does present facts that aided my understanding of the situation since 1916, though the format of the pocket series seems to leave out any background that would explain fundamental history. For someone who has that context, it seems like a complete listing of the facts. I wouldn't recommend it as an introductory history, nor as good writing.
