I think my main problem is that I couldn't connect to the MCs or the weird way they communicated. Some of their reactions seemed so out of the blue that I wondered whether I glossed over the part of the text that could have explained them. After the third time it happened, I stopped going back trying to figure out what I missed and just went with it, but it never stopped making me feel uncomfortable.
The setting is unusual and had the potential to be very engrossing, but the writing failed to make it happen for me. The plot point that was (in my opinion) the key needed for the setting to finally "click" with me (
The romantic plot is nothing special - basically fated mates/insta love, shaman style. The mystery could have been great, but because of all the niggles mentioned above, it failed to do anything for me.
After a while the confused state I was in while reading the book, amplified by the unusual writing, just became plain tiring. I almost gave up 80% into the book. I think it's safe to say A. Nybo isn't the writer for me.
