The author brings to the table a perspective from one of the Stone-Campbell religious heritage, which from its onset valued Christian Unity -- but wasn't very successful in practicing what it preached.

I very much like the anecodotal style employed by the author, as it personalizes the subject matter and helps one appreciate the author's perspective.

The book includes two main parts:

I. Protestantism, with chapters on "Fundamentalists and Evangelicals" and "Scripture and Tradition."

II. catholic Christian Faith, with chapters "The Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed," "God the Father: Maker of Heaven and Earth," "Jesus Christ: True God Become Man," "The Holy Spirit: Giver of Life," "The Church: One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic," and "Christian Worship and Life,"

The author points out that "Roman Catholics and conservative Protestants are Christians . . . because we are sisters and brothers in Christ." Unity is a gift from God. "We must unwrap it, take possession of it."

The book provides a good overview of the subject and is worthy of consideration by all Christians interested in learning ways of looking at one another without relying on old stereotypes that continue to keep us in a state of disunity. Indexed.… (más)
