**may contain spoilers** This book felt unfinished to me. The main character Lilly was not fully developed, I don't even remember reading a physical description of what she looked like. She is a bit flighty as she goes from one objective to another without ever having accomplished the first (i.e. the whole necklace business seems forgotten when she meets Andre and returns home, and the looking for her mother issue is resolved by her realizing her stepmother is a mother to her?). This just confused me. I thought the book would have more to do with magic, but it's only mentioned here and there throughout the book, mostly to explain the political unrest between humans and sorcerers. The whole book felt rushed. No depth in any of the characters. The language also through me off, words like pissed (angry not drunk) and ain't seemed odd with the era and/or the sentence structure. I think the storyline could be promising if the characters were fleshed out, the main character had reasoning behind her strong sense of justice, and the reader isn't thrown from one topic to the next without any sort of closure.… (más)
